O2SL & QRT National Provide Situation Board Training in Louisville

For immediate release

LOUISVILLE, KY – Operation 2 Save Lives (O2SL) and QRT National recently provided training to Louisville agencies on the Situation Table, a strategy that facilitates multi-agency responses for those at risk of experiencing crisis.

The training was sponsored by the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation (HBFF) with support from the Kentucky Criminal Justice Forum and community partners, KY Opioid Response Effort and KY Primary Care Association. The two-day training took place July 26-27 at the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center and was taught by instructors from O2SL & QRT National and HBFF.

The training focused on preparing participating agencies with the skills and lessons needed to form a Situation Table. A Situation Table is a unique, risk-based rapid triage model that brings together multiple social service providers to address situations where individuals and/or families face a specific threshold of extremely high risk.

Through the model, an extremely high risk individual or family would be referred to the situation table for consideration for possible intervention before a crisis occurs. Table participants will collaborate and discuss identified risk factors and possible services. Once consensus is reached, the Table would appoint a team of agencies to attempt to locate the individual or family and connect them to services.

The Situation Tables are made up of representatives from various public safety agencies, public health agencies and service providers in the participating communities. Approximately 20 managers, supervisors, frontline workers and community mobilizers from 14 agencies who work with vulnerable populations participated in the training.

“We were thrilled to partner again with the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation and community partners to bring situational table training to other agencies and service providers in Kentucky,” said Michael Botieri, vice -national president of business development O2SL & QRT. “It was great to see the commitment and enthusiasm of our Louisville attendees and we can’t wait to see their Situation Table in action.”

The HUB Situation Table Model was developed in Canada by Global Network for Community Safety (Global Network), a Canadian company that focuses on innovations to improve the safety and well-being of communities in Canada and the United States. United through the O2SL and the QRT National – Global Network partnership, the organizations work across borders to collectively provide multi-agency community responses to address issues of marginalization, for pre-crisis identification and crisis interventions, while creating pathways to care and support. Their combined expertise and range of services – based on internationally recognized past best practices – help provide communities with tailored responses to meet their current needs and the ability to quickly adapt to a changing landscape of risk factors, including those related to substance use disorders, mental health disorders and related social health problems.
