Matrix Solutions announces its merger with Ecosystem Recovery Inc.

CALGARY, Alta., December 16, 2021 /CNW/ – Leading Canadian environmental, water and engineering design consulting firm Matrix Solutions has announced a merger with OntarioEcosystem Recovery Inc. (ERI). ERI specializes in helping clients to effectively assess, manage and restore built and natural infrastructure with the goal of protecting communities from the risks of flooding and erosion. Merger further strengthens Matrix’s presence and reputation in water resources Southern Ontario and strengthens the firm’s national community of technical practitioners.

“The recent flooding in British Columbia and Atlantic Canada highlights the direct link that extreme weather events have with water and associated infrastructure,” said the President and CEO of Matrix Solutions Matthew Suton. “This merger strengthens Matrix’s position as a dominant player in the water resources market, able to meet the needs of communities and industries seeking to assess climate risk and increase the resilience of critical infrastructure to climate change. “

ERI was founded in 2013 and gradually expanded its market position and size to a team of around 20 people, consisting of consulting engineers, geomorphologists, ecologists, water quality experts and technologists.

Situated at Kitchener and London, OntarioERI professionals are experienced in the assessment and detailed design of watercourse works/restoration, stormwater management and structural flood mitigation measures.

The merger closely follows the announcement of Matrix Solutions Quentin Chiotti, PhD as practice lead for the firm’s Climate Risk and Resilience.
