Matrix resurrections released its first trailer on Thursday morning, and the tease was mind-blowing with stunning visuals fans have come to expect from the beloved sci-fi franchise.
The first look at the highly anticipated episode of Warner Bros. continued the story of Thomas Anderson (Keanu Reeves) and Trinity (Carrie-Anne Moss), seemingly once again trapped in simulated reality controlled by machines. The preview shows Anderson, aka Neo, can’t seem to remember his past or who he is, as he discusses his dreams with a therapist played by Neil Patrick Harris. Neo and Trinity apparently don’t know each other – yet.
The three-minute trailer is perfectly stirred up with Jefferson Airplane’s “White Rabbit”.
Within an hour of posting, the trailer has garnered nearly a million views on YouTube alone.
Images from the new film, produced, co-written and directed by Lana Wachowski, premiered at CinemaCon, where they blew up the doors of the trade show.
Matrix resurrections Also stars Jada Pinkett Smith (back in the franchise) as well as series newcomers Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Jessica Henwick, Jonathan Groff, Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Christina Ricci.
A co-production of Village Roadshow Pictures and Venus Castina Productions, Matrix resurrections hits theaters and on HBO Max on December 22.
