Canadian Keanu Reeves said: “It’s always nice to be back” as he returned to Toronto on Thursday night to walk the black carpet at the Canadian premiere of “The Matrix Resurrections”.
Reeves, who looked stylish in a black suit, surprised fans in several auditoriums at the Cineplex Scotiabank Theater and expressed gratitude for Canada’s continued love and support for “The Matrix.”
Born in Beirut and raised in Toronto, the actor said in an interview: “It’s always nice to be back, and tonight some people are going to see ‘The Matrix Resurrections’ and I hope they see it. ‘will like.”
The Scotiabank Theater has been transformed into a different look with an iconic green digital rain symbolizing the computer coding made famous by the ‘The Matrix’ franchise, an effect achieved through high definition projection mapping. Once inside, as fans climbed the theater’s huge escalators and stairs, the green rain continued to pour down the screens and surfaces. It made fans feel like they had returned to “The Matrix”.
According to a press release from Warner Bros. Canada, it was the first time that Cineplex allowed a full takeover of a venue by a film studio, and it was the first event to simultaneously feature film screenings on the 14 screens of the Scotiabank Theater Toronto. .
“The Matrix Resurrections” is the fourth film in the franchise, bringing back fan favorite characters Neo (Reeves) and Trinity, played by Carrie Anne-Moss, 18 years after the last film, “The Matrix Revolutions”, in 2003.
